A lot of people are always deemed to be blessed with good fortune in their lives, while many others curse their own luck repeatedly every time they failed to get what they want.
While people might be ignorant of what they already have , they never fail to notice what they don’t have…..
and while people constantly think that others are luckier than them , they never seem to understand what the others have lost in the process or the so-called luck….
It has indeed been the norm , or rather human nature , to judge a thing from it’s surface and to make wild generalization about certain things……However , the truth is that…..There are always pros and cons in everything , and I mean EVERYTHING, that we do…..
While there might be gains , there are definitely losses somewhere else….
And that’s what I call “ THE EQUATION OF LIFE”…..
A lot of people think that their peers are luckier than them to be awarded some kind of scholarships to study overseas , but just how many of them could see the relentless efforts that have been poured out and the sacrifice of innumerable tv-watching hours behind the stories….
Besides , while one might have the chance to study in a top University overseas , but he/she never get the opportunity to experience the conventional local undergraduates’ lives or the well-known ‘mamak stall chit-chat’ with fellow friends ……
On one hand , while staying abroad , one can easily go around backpacking in the respective continent or region ( say Europe) , but on the other hand the amount of time one spends with the family is certainly far less as compared with the others..... You call it inevitable or unavoidable, but the fact that lurks beneath it spells great loss….the parents turn older , the brothers and sisters are suddenly grown-up and things back there have changed…Don’t u think that it could be described as massive loss in compensation for massive gain?
Another example of me personally , coming to Germany has made it possible for me to have a good grasp of the German language itself….but at the same time , I have gradually lost my fluency not only in English ,but Chinese and Malay as well….Once again , there’s no total gain or total loss……
So what’s the conclusion?? The next time u think that u r unlucky or others are luckier than u , think again…..see beyond the horizon of the surface as the coins always have two sides………
