VIP....double standard

I was driving on a busy road in Penang a couple of days ago ..... being stuck in traffic congestions almost everywhere which is so common to the mundane life of fellow penangites, i was trying to be as patient as i could.....then on one occasion, i looked to the rear mirror and realised that everybody was trying to make way for something....

the first thing that came up to my mind was...''it's an ambulance''....

the second picture that sprang up was.... ''it's fire brigade''.......

it was until 5 seconds later when it became clear to me that some so-called VIPs, being escorted by some superbikes of those policemen... were coming up from afar....well, as soon as they passed by...i straight away stepped hard on the acceleration pedal ... trying to seize the rare chance and capitalize on the ''openings'' carved open by them ....emm ... doin that has given me the impression that the policemen were somehow escorting me as well...hehehe

anyway, any sense of pleasure was promptly overwhelmed by displeasure when i learnt that i was almost hitting a top speed of 120 km/h whilst the speed limit permitted was only 80km/h on that road .... queer but true, i wasn't afraid of being fined for speeding as those policemen and VIPS ahead of me were travelling equally fast, if not faster.... and that's the MAIN and PREDOMINANT point of this ENTRY !!!

well....i guess that reveals something of a fundamental fact about the way double standards are being practised here..... whilst defiantly claiming that all road users must adhere to the speed limit, those law makers fail to realise that EVERYBODY, be it Teong Hee or Sammyvellu or William Hung ....must abide by the regulations enforced.....

Someone told me that those VIPS actually have the so-called privilege to speed on the road as every decision they have to make might worth 2 million dollars....any delay , albeit only for a few minutes would be fatal......but the questions are:

1) does a mere ''prospective'' 2 million dollars grant them the right to be somehow no longer entitled to the rules and regulations??

2) does that mean they should be given special treatment when the others are frustrated being stuck in similar predicament or plight ??

I believe the fact that double standards are being practised on the road has rendered talks of ''road safety'' campaigns virtually meaningless ..... to lead efficiently, one must lead by examples and not always have the privilege of practising double standards, not forgetting that they are actually perpetuating the concept '' u can speed without respect for regulations under certain circumstances'' which when being falsely interpreted could lead to undesirable repercussions...

ok la..it's not that serious la....but u know where am i going ..:P
